In the fall of 2017 while hunting in the Montana backcountry PEAX Equipment team began a descent on a steep and rocky face using a pair of basic off the shelf aluminum trekking poles.  Placing the poles in between two boulders, the angle and pressure was more than they could bare and failure occurred, bending them to almost 90 degrees. It was then that PEAX Equipment began their journey to build a lighter, stronger, and more durable pair of backcountry poles...
